MINEMAN Systems is installing a further stage of MINEMAN for Newcrest Mining. For the past few years Newcrest has relied on MINEMAN for its three copper producing mines. Now Newcrest is also going to use MINEMAN to manage all its metal accounting and sales for physical gold. Newcrest has seven gold mining operations in Australia and Indonesia and is Australia's largest gold producer. In the year ending June 2008 Newcrest produced 1.8 million ounces which is equivalent to 56 tonnes of gold. Staff in Newcrest's head office and at the various mines will run the new system for physical gold over the Internet from a data centre in Melbourne, Australia.
