Batu Hijau goes live on MINEMAN R7
The large Indonesian copper mine, Batu Hijau, has upgraded to MINEMAN Release 7.
Batu Hijau, which means "green rock" in Bahasa Indonesian, is operated by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT). Newmont is North America's largest gold producer and a leading producer of gold and copper globally, with operations on five continents.
MINEMAN is the world's leading software and services solution for the commercial realization of concentrates and metals. The unique architecture of MINEMAN Release 7 is designed to streamline transactions in metal-bearing commodities and to maximise the value of a company's revenue stream. The system can manage multiple sites and commodities, and in multiple languages, all from a single instance delivered globally. MINEMAN is maintained and supported by the company’s technical and commercial experts in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and Peru.
The previous version, MINEMAN Release 6, was implemented for PTNNT in 2004. It was Newmont's first IT project that needed to conform with the then new Sarbanes Oxley legislation. Over the past eight years PTNNT has relied on MINEMAN for all of its sales, marketing, mark-to-market revaluations and cashflow forecasting. In 2007 the mine produced a record 1 million wet metric tonnes of copper concentrates, all of it sold using MINEMAN.
The new system is widely regarded as industry best practice, and will make PTNNT more efficient and effective in maximising the value of its sales of copper, gold and silver.
The project was completed smoothly, on time and on budget, by MINEMAN's global implementation teams located in Australia, India and Indonesia.
