Century Mine given new lease of life
One of Australia's most iconic zinc mines, the Century mine, has been given a new lease of life.
New Century Resources has taken over the Century mine from the former operators MMG Limited with the commitment to meet their environmental obligations. Studies to date show that Century mine still has in excess of 2.3Mt of zinc in tailings and ore bodies.
New Century was able to restart operations in just thirteen months with the first shipment from the new operation occurring in November 2018.
Century Resource worked with MINEMAN during this period to get a system up and running in under two months to facilitate the first shipments. The first phase of the project implemented the MINEMAN Marketing module allowing New Century to generate shipment documentation and invoices. Soon after the second phase of the project was completed providing New Century the ability to monitor the quantity and quality of material being delivered out of the Karumba pipeline.
The second phase also included the MINEMAN Finance module which facilitated the generation and monitoring of open position, as well as mark-to-market and other financial reporting.
